Teaneck Library Installs Slab Of Town's Historic Oak Tree In Courtyard TEANECK, N.J. -- The Teaneck Public Library has announced the installation of a slab of the historic red oak tree that stood at the corner of Cedar Lane and Palisade Avenue for some 250 years. The section of the tree now sits on the main floor of the library courtyard on a stand constructed by Anthony Santella, with an explanatory Plexiglas sign designed and fabricated by Majestic Signs of Teaneck. The tree succumbed to disease and was cut down in June 2013 after efforts to preserve it by the Puffin Foundation. The tree, which stood on a lot that also housed a historic home that dated b…

Connecticut Restricts Work On Roads, Highways For The Holidays FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that there will be no maintenance or construction activities on major highways over the Christmas and New Year holiday periods. The dates in which these activities will cease run from Thursday, Dec. 24, at 6 a.m. until Monday, Dec. 28, at 8 p.m., and on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 6 a.m. until Monday, January 4, 2016, until 8 p.m. Only road work of an emergency nature will be considered during these periods.
