Maywood Marine Surprises Young Nephew In Math Class MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Carlos Toalongo, a fifth-grader at Maywood Avenue School, got the surprise of his young life last week when his uncle, Juan Chuqui, – a corporal in the United States Marines – made an unannounced visit to his math class. Chuqui is on leave for three weeks from his base in Hawaii. His time at home will extend through the holidays.

Wallington Republican Club Stages Clothing Drive For Passaic-Based Charity WALLINGTON, N.J. -- The Wallington Republican recently club sponsored a coat, hat and scarf drive for N.J. Food & Clothing Rescue, an organization that provides the homeless, fire victims, veterans, seniors and those in critical economic situations with food, clothes and hygiene items. The Republican Club collected enough coats, hats, gloves and scarves to fill two large SUVs. They then delivered the items to the charity for distribution.

Construction Work Stopped This Week On Ridgefield's Route 35 RIDGEFIELD, Conn.-- The Connecticut Department of Transportation has notified the town that there will be no construction activity at the Route 35 site from Dec. 21 to 25. The temporary light pole was installed at the south entrance to Fox Hill and is operational. Residents are asked to call the first selectman's office if they notice any problem with the light.
