Pre-Dawn Crook Swipes Almost $10K in North Valley Stream Realty Break-In: Police
A Long Island real estate agency was burglarized early Monday morning, April 20, and the thief made off with nearly $10,000, police said.
The break-in occurred at Best American Homes Realty in North Valley Stream around 1:12 a.m., the Nassau County Police Department said in a Monday night alert.
The burglar swiped $9,500 in cash and “multiple electronic devices including several phones,” the police department said. They then took off in an unknown direction.

An Albany man punched out a car window and drilled a passenger with a glass bottle in a nighttime assault, police said Thursday, April 16.
Darrin Brown, 30, struck the victim’s car on Kate Street near Whitehall Road around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, the Albany Police Department said in an alert.
After smashing the window, Brown picked up a glass bottle and threw it at the victim, striking him in the head, cops said. Brown then went to Albany Medical Center for treatment on the cut on his arm from punching out the window, according to investigators.

A Long Island man convicted of “executing” his roommate in a basement apartment murder received a lengthy prison sentence on Thursday, April 16, authorities said.
Darwin Josue Maldonado Vanegas, 32, got 25 years to life for second-degree murder, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
