The woman found dead in Long Island Sound earlier this week has been identified as a Nassau County resident who may have been in a state of psychosis when she disappeared last month, police said Wednesday, April 15.
Brittany Kritis-Garip, 32, was last seen alive on Friday, March 20 around 8 p.m. in Oyster Bay, according to authorities. Her body was discovered Monday, April 13 just before 8 p.m. in Lloyd Harbor, police said.

Two employees at a Long Island business stole $175,000 from the store in a months-long fraud scheme, police said Tuesday, April 14.
Ranaldo Davis, 19, and Marquis Johnson, 31, swiped the money while working at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Valley Stream, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Davis, of Rosedale, and Johnson, of Westbury, started the scheme on January 13 and continued through Sunday, April 12, investigators said. They were arrested Tuesday.

A bookstore burglar was captured in New York with the assistance of controversial surveillance technology, police said Tuesday, April 14.
Cops said Thomas Luxton, 22, was spotted at Braveheart Book and Bazaar in Stephentown on Monday, April 13, according to Albany ABC affiliate WTEN.
The store’s owner, Louise Hendry, said she was on the property and observed Luxton on her own cameras inside the store while it was closed, WTEN reported. Andres Lima, 39, was charged with 20 counts of second-degree vaginal rape and 15 counts of second-degree oral rape, New York State Police said.
