Greenwich's Galen Hughes Wins Rowing Gold At Junior Worlds GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich’s Galen Hughes, a June graduate of Greenwich Academy, won a gold medal with her crew Saturday at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. Hughes was part of the U.S. crew on the Women’s Four. Hughes joined Carline Hart of Massachusetts, Sylvia Sallquist of Washington and Elize Spilsbury of Massachusetts on the winning team. The girls were coached by Liz Trond of Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club. Westport Little League Plays World Series Opener On Thursday WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Little League 12-and-under All-Stars will play Southeast champion Nasvhille, Tenn., in its first game Thursday at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. The game begins at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2. Westport is making its first trip to the Little League World Series after winning its first New England championship on Saturday.
