Westport Little League All-Stars Play For State Title WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Little League All-Stars play Coginchaug in the state championship series beginning Saturday in Southington. Game 1 in the best-of-three series starts at 3 p.m. Game 2 is Sunday at 3 p.m, and the if-necessary game will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. The state winner advances to the New England Regional in Bristol beginning next week. Norwalk Runner Eric Van der Els 2nd At Junior Olympic Nationals NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk runner Eric van der Els finished second Friday in the 3,000 meters in his age group at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Van der Els ran a personal best 9:02.11 in the boys 15-16 age group. Fairfield 9-10 Softball Team Takes Section 1 Crown FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield's Little League Girls Softball 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars won the Section 1 championship Thursday with a 3-0 victory over Seymour in Wallingford. Fairfield will play Waterford South in a best-of-three series for the state title beginning Saturday in Trumbull. Connecticut Challenge Rolls Off In Fairfield County This Weekend FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Connecticut Challenge rolls through Fairfield County this weekend as cyclists from all over raise funds for the Center For Survivorship in Fairfield. The first ride is an 80-mile journey on Friday from Lakeville, Conn., to the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport.
