Weston's Alex Peyreigne Wins College Lacrosse Honor WESTON, Conn. – Weston High graduate Alex Peyreigne, a sophomore goalie for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week. It was the second time Peyreigne has earned the honor. He made 24 saves in two games last week as Merchant Marine beat Maritime, N.Y., 13-3, and Catholic, 14-8. Peyreigne has started all five games for Merchant Marine and has a goals-against-average of 7.87. He was a four-year letter winner at Weston and helped the Trojans win the state championship in 2010.

Public Golf Courses In Fairfield County In Full Swing FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – It may be a little chilly and soggy, but golfers in Fairfield County are happily returning to the links. Most public golf courses in Fairfield County are now open for play. The conditions may not be perfect, but neither are the skills of rusty golfers as they emerge from a lengthy winter hiatus. New Canaan Synchro Swimmers Capture East Honors NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan YMCA Aquianas Synchronized Swimming team won the High Point trophy for the third consecutive year at the Senior East Zone Meet held in Binghamton, N.Y. earlier this month. Stamford Sharks Hockey Team Wins New Englands STAMFORD, Conn. – The Stamford Sharks Squirt A hockey team went 5-0 to win the New England Regional tournament last weekend in Portland, Maine. The regional victory capped one of the best seasons in the history of the Sharks program. The Squirts, who are 9- and 10-year-olds, finished 57-8-3. They also won a tournament in Lake Placid, the New England Silver Sticks and the state championship. Darien Lacrosse Players Reunite At College Game DARIEN, Conn. – Three former Darien High School lacrosse players reunited Sunday when the University of Maryland met Villanova in a game at College Park, Md. Eric Parnon, a defender for the top-ranked Terrapins, caught up with former Blue Wave teammates Graham Maybell and Christian Kolderup. Parnon and the Terrapins won, 10-7. Parnon played in the game for Maryland (6-0), while Kolderup, also a defenseman, had a goal for Villanova (1-5). Both players have seen action in every game this season. Maybell, a midfielder, has not yet appeared in any games for the Wildcats.
