From an emotional standpoint, the Crusaders’ success this fall also ranks high. Now, the Trojans will see how they fare against the state’s best in the Class M tournament beginning Tuesday night. Norwalk Soccer Family Celebrates State Success NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk soccer player Andrew Melitsanopoulos joined his brothers and parents for a photo on the New Canaan High School football field after Friday’s 2-0 win versus Fairfield Prep in the Class LL championship game. Melitsanopoulos scored the game-winning goal for the Bears, who won their first championship since 1966. Really, however, Melitsanopoulos' state title was a family affair. Westport, Weston Girls Row To Top College Programs WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport’s Louisa Freeman and Weston’s Jo Gurman developed an instant chemistry when paired as a two-girl team for the Saugatuck Rowing Club. Good results were also immediate, including a bronze medal at the U.S. Rowing Youth Nationals in June. Now, the high school seniors have something more to show for their success. New Canaan Football Stunned By Darien, 36-23 NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan High football coach Lou Marinelli was as surprised as anyone by Thursday’s 36-23 loss to Darien in the annual Turkey Bowl between the archrival teams.
