Danbury Football Team Routed By Ridgefield DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury High’s football team has shown flashes of promise this season. But Thursday night’s 42-6 loss to Ridgefield was a reflection on the Hatters’ season, in which they showed encouraging signs followed by discouraging trends. “It’s a disappointment,” coach Dan Donovan said to summarize his team’s 3-7 season. “We have athletes, but we just can’t execute. Ridgefield Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive With Big Win Over Danbury RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield High’s football team did its part to stay alive for the state playoffs. Now, the Tigers have to hope for a little help. The Tigers dominated Danbury on Wednesday night, 42-6, as Sam Gravitte rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Wilton U11 Boys Soccer Team Takes County Crown WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Blue under-11 boys soccer team defeated Stamford, 4-1, to win the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Southwest District B Division championship. Wilton 4th-Graders Finish Unbeaten, Win Football Title WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Blue fourth-grade football team defeated New Canaan White, 20-7, to win the championship of the Fairfield County Football League. Wilton (11-0) defeated New Canaan Black, 12-6, in the semifinals and Darien Blue, 20-0, in the quarterfinals. In the championship game, New Canaan scored for an early 7-0 lead before Wilton rallied. Fairfield Sixth Graders Win County Football Crown FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Wildcats sixth grade football team rallied in the second half to defeat Darien White, 14-7, to win the Fairfield County Football League championship. Brian Howell, behind a devastating block by Jesse Lawson, scored the winning touchdown on a 15-yard run. Aiden Wykoff ran in for the conversion behind a block by Will Stearns. New Canaan Freshman Football Tops Darien, Finishes 8-0 NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The freshman football teams from Darien and New Canaan entered last Saturday’s showdown with undefeated records. As the Blue Wave found out, the young Rams are hard to stop. Quarterback Mike Collins hit Kyle Smith with scoring passes of 43 and 80 yards in the second half to lead the Rams to a 14-0 victory. New Canaan finished the season 8-0, and was led by an offense that averaged more than 38 points per game.
