Norwalk Football Looks To End On A Winning Note NORWALK, Conn. – Most people didn't expected Norwalk High’s football team to match last year’s 9-2 season, which led to a berth in the Class LL football semifinals. Neither did most people expect the Bears would fall this hard, either. The Bears enter their Thanksgiving Day rivalry against Brien McMahon with a 3-5 mark after picking up a forfeit win Tuesday versus Westhill. The Vikings forfeited four wins for using an ineligible player. Thursday’s kickoff is set for 10:30 a.m. at Norwalk High’s Testa Field. Westhill Football Forfeits 4 Wins, Causes Playoff Chaos STAMFORD, Conn. – Westhill’s football team forfeited four wins for using an ineligible player and, in the process, has thrown the high school state football playoff possibilities into even more upheavel. Westhill falls to 1-8 entering Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day game at Boyle Stadium against Stamford High (2-7). More importantly, however, the loss affects Trinity Catholic (7-2) in its Thanksgiving game at Wilton (10:30 a.m.). New Canaan 5th-Grade Football Teams Share Title NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Two fifth-grade football teams from New Canaan shared the league championship in the Fairfield County Football League. New Canaan Red, coached by Mark Smith, finished 8-1. New Canaan Black, coached by Denis LaPolice, finished 9-1. The teams shared the title after both won semifinal games. New Canaan 3rd-Grade Football Team Goes Undefeated NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The New Canaan Black third-grade football team defeated Wilton White, 12-0, Saturday to win the Fairfield County Football League championship. New Canaan finished the season 10-0, including playoff wins over New Canaan Red, 20-13, and Westport North, 18-0. New Canaan also beat Wilton White during the regular season, 18-0. New Canaan Gymnast To Attend Central Michigan NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan gymnast Caroline Fitzpatrick has been a success at every level of her career. Next fall, she'll try to continue on that track at Central Michigan University. Fitzpatrick, 17, is the latest athlete from Arena Gymnastics in Stamford to advance to the collegiate level. Young Wilton Runners Earn Spots At National Race WILTON, Conn. – Two runners from the Wilton Running Club earned the right to compete in the Junior Olympic Cross Country national championships with strong races in Saturday’s regional competition at Eisenhower Park on Long Island. Fairfield 7th-Graders Fall In Football Title Game FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Wildcats’ seventh-grade football coach Buddy Zachery loved his team’s position. Wilton 7th-Graders Top Fairfield For Football Title WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Blue seventh-grade football team fell into an unenviable position in Sunday’s championship game against Fairfield. Norwalk, Fairfield Prep Meet Friday For Soccer Title This story is updated to reflect time change by CIAC on Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Norwalk and Fairfield Prep will play for the Class LL soccer championship Friday at 10:30 a.m. at New Canaan High School. Top-seeded Norwalk advanced with a 2-1 win over Stamford in the semifinals, while Fairfield Prep squeaked past Greenwich, 1-0, with a 7-5 victory in penalty kicks. Norwalk won its only state title in 1966. Fairfield Prep has never played in a state championship game.

Darien Eighth Grade Football Teams Share League Title DARIEN, Conn. – Two teams from Darien shared the Fairfield County Football League eighth grade championship title for the second straight year. Darien Blue, coached by Jay Hardison, finished 10-0 after defeating Ridgefield Orange, 12-8, in the semifinals. Darien White, coached by Rich Joyce, finished 10-1.
