Norwalk Fourth Grade Football Team Celebrates Title NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Packers fourth-grade football team defeated Bridgeport, 7-0, on Saturday to win the Colonial League championship. Fairfield Runners Find Own Marathon Challenge After Hurricane FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield’s Carrie Cochrane needed to run 26.2 miles Sunday as much for herself as for her late father. With the support of 12 other runners running for the Connecticut Challenge, Cochrane accomplished her goal despite Hurricane Sandy. Cochrane had planned to run the New York City Marathon on Sunday in memory of her father. At last year’s marathon, she saw her father for the last time when he met her along the race route. Norwalk 4th Graders Win League Football Title NORWALK, Conn. – Nursing a seven-point lead with only 1:25 left in the game, the Norwalk Packers fourth-grade football team turned to its defense to get one final stop against the Bridgeport Chargers in Saturday’s Colonial League championship game. Fairfield County Runners Understand Decision To Cancel Marathon FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Greenwich’s Emmy Stocker and Sharon Vos and New Canaan’s Alicia O’Neill have long relationships with the ING New York City Marathon. Each had different objectives at Sunday’s race and different outlooks when it was canceled late Friday afternoon. Danbury Woman Goes Extra Mile To Help Hurricane Victims DANBURY, Conn. – After the New York City Marathon was canceled on Friday, Danbury’s Carolyn Wolfe still wanted to run 26.2 miles. On Saturday, she created her own Danbury Marathon, and support from friends helped her raise money for New York residents battered by Hurricane Sandy. Wolfe decided on Friday after the race was canceled to run in Danbury. She created a Facebook page, and friends said they would donate $26.20 to support relief efforts. Norwalk Woman Celebrates Unique Anniversary At Marathon NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk’s Debbie Moran will run her 10th marathon on the 10th anniversary of her first 26.2-mile race in Sunday’s ING New York City Marathon. The memories from her 2002 race, however, will never be duplicated. Moran completed the race that year 15 months after being diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. On Dec. 31, 2001, having completed chemotherapy and heading for radiation, Moran made the commitment to run the race. She got in through the lottery in June and completed the race.
