Weston Eighth Grade Football Team Continues Win Streak WESTON, Conn. – Weston’s eighth grade football league is having quite the debut season in the Fairfield County Football League. Weston defeated Norwalk on Saturday, 18-6, to improve to 5-0 on the season. Weston is one of three eighth grade teams still unbeaten, along with two teams from Darien. Weston is not scheduled to meet either Darien team during the regular season. Saturday’s victory was another team effort for the Junior Trojans. Alex Fruhbeis ran for two touchdowns and Jason Lawrence added another score. Weston meets Wilton Blue on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Wilton.

Weston Cross Country Wins Manchester Invitational WESTON, Conn. – Weston’s boys cross country team takes on Newtown Tuesday in a battle of undefeated squads in the South-West Conference. The Trojans are coming into the race with a full head of steam after winning the small school division of the Winding Trails Invitational Saturday in Farmington. Led by junior James Murphy, the Trojans compiled 62 points. There were 12 teams in the race, and Weston outran two teams that it lost to earlier this fall, Nonnewaug and Lewis Mills. Fairfield Warde Runner Wins Rhode Island Race FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Warde’s cross country teams got a taste of competition against New England teams Saturday at the Ocean State Invitational in Warwick, R.I. The Mustangs and coach Tim Foster discovered junior Cate Allen is establishing herself as a regional standout. Allen won the Division 2 race in 19:03, 14 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. There were 189 runners in the race, with teams from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut in the field. Fairfield Runners Show Support For Bigelow Race FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Luke and Max Laferriere represent what the Bigelow Tea Community Challenge is all about. The 8-year-old twin brothers from Southport were among the runners and walkers who participated in Sunday’s 25th edition of the race.
