Darien, Fairfield Prep Boys Win At Wilton Race WILTON, Conn. – Boys teams from Darien and Fairfield Prep and the girls team from Immaculate of Danbury won championships Saturday at the Wilton Invitational cross country meet. The meet attracted teams from throughout the state and one from Long Island. Fairfield Prep junior Chris Alvarado won the boys race in 15:56 for the 3.1 mile distance. Prep compiled 31 points to win the boys large school division. Andy Thane finished seventh overall, while Alec Hilton (11th) and Scott Ball (13th) also finished in the top 15. Norwalk Woman Sets Record In Summer Running Series NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk’s Julie Heaphy made it a sweep of races in the Norwalk-based Lightfoot Summer Series in Saturday’s Sam Elpern Half Marathon. New Canaan’s Lauren Greig made sure Heaphy earned it. Heaphy won the women’s division in 1:29:16, while Greig was second in 1:31:48 for the 13.1-mile course. New Canaan Girls' Cross Country Starts With Sweep NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s girls' cross country team has grown to nearly 50 runners this year. In the Rams’ first race Tuesday, those strong numbers helped them run to a sweep in a five-team race. Paced by senior Olivia Hompe, the Rams defeated Westhill, Danbury, Fairfield Ludlowe and Brien McMahon in a race at Waveny Park. The narrowest margin came against Danbury, where the Rams earned a 24-31 win. The race also was tight against Westhill, with the Rams winning 25-34.
