Norwalk Woman Is King Of The Hill In Danbury Race DANBURY, Conn. — Norwalk’s Elizabeth Campbell made one of her initial races in Connecticut count. Even with a bum foot she won the King of the Hill 5-kilometer road race Thursday at the Matrix Corporate Center in Danbury. Campbell, 22, won the women’s division in 20:32. Kevin Boughan of Gaylordsville won the men’s race in 17:42. Campbell, who graduated in May from the University of New Hampshire, won despite a stress fracture that has been bothering her since running a 10K race in her native New Jersey a few weeks ago. Campbell nursed the injury to prepare for Thursday’s race and felt fine …

Weston Racquet Club Kids Win State Tennis Title WESTON, Conn. – The Weston Wildcats 10-and-under tennis team won its second straight state tournament in a competition last month in West Hartford. The team of Prem Dave, Olivia Wen, Vivian Wen, Alexander Visser and Spencer Chandlee plays out of the Weston Racquet Club.  Weston also won the tournament in 2011 in the 8-and-under age division. The team is coached by Alex Kantarelis. Weston went 14-0 during the season. In the state tournament, the Wildcats defeated teams from New Haven, Milford and Woodbridge to reach the finals. Westport Businessman Wins Ironman Age Group Title EASTON, Conn. – Chris Thomas of Easton won the men’s 40-44 age group Sunday at the Ironman World Championship 70.3 mile race in Las Vegas. But he exhausted himself competing in the 100-degree heat. The 40-year-old Westport businessman finished in 4:32:05. The event consisted of a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run. New Coach Tries To Rebuild Westhill Football STAMFORD, Conn. – Frank Marcucio believes he can revive the Westhill High School football program.
