Fairfield Hosts 5K, Half-Marathon This Weekend FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield's Stratton Faxon Fairfield Road Races will be a top destination for state runners this weekend with a 5K on tap Saturday and a half-marathon Sunday.  Only a few spots are available for each race, as nearly 6,000 runners are expected between the two events. The races begin at Jennings Beach. Saturday’s 5K starts off at 8:30 a.m., while the half-marathon on Sunday starts at 8:30 a.m. There will be beach parties following both races. Stamford Recreation Leader Doubles As Duathlon Champ STAMFORD, Conn. – Scott Beauregard is more than the assistant superintendent for the Stamford Recreation Services Division. He’s also a national champion in the duathlon. Beauregard won the Clydesdale Division – a classification for athletes weighing more than 200 pounds – at the Blackwater Duathlon in Cambridge, Md., earlier this month. The Riptide reached the semifinals with a 4-0 win over the Stamford Starz in the quarterfinals. Amy Hurd got the victory, tossing a three-hitter with six strikeouts.
