Haggerty Pools Unbeaten in North Stamford Baseball STAMFORD, Conn. – Haggerty Pools completed an undefeated season in the North Stamford Little League with a 10-3 victory over County TV in the championship game. Haggerty Pools finished 21-0, including 17-0 in the regular season and 4-0 in the playoffs. Haggerty outscored opponents 244-38 on the season. The team will represent North Stamford Little League in the Stamford Tournament of Champions, which begins Wednesday. Westport Girls Play In Lacrosse All-Star Game WESTPORT, Conn. – Five players from the Westport PAL girls' lacrosse program were selected to participate in the league All-Star games Sunday at Yale University. Allie Shuldman, Kate Lesch, Meghan Johnson, Abby Najarian and Christine Taylor played in the under-13 and under-15 games. New Canaan-Based Team Wins Regional Diving Title NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The Whirlwind Diving team of the New Canaan YMCA captured the team title at the USA Diving Region 2 Summer Championships earlier this month at SUNY-Purchase in Purchase, N.Y. Whirlwind won the team title with 257 points. The team also finished first in the men’s division with 162 points, while the girls were fourth in the women’s division. No New Info on Stricken Westport Triathlete WESTPORT, Conn. – No new information was available as of 10 a.m. Monday regarding the triathlete pulled from the water during Sunday’s Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon, representatives of Norwalk Hospital and Targetraining said.  The Wallingford man, who is in his 60s, was unconscious when he was pulled to shore by Sherwood Island lifeguards. Greenwich Triathlete Takes Top Spot in Westport WESTPORT, Conn. – After spending most of last week on a business trip in Denmark, Greenwich’s Jonathan Baxendale wasn’t sure what to expect in Sunday’s Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon. The time away certainly didn’t affect him. Baxendale won Sunday’s race, finishing in 1:04:37. Florence Chretein of South Salem, N.Y, won the women’s race in 1:07:16. Triathlete in Westport Race Rushed to Hospital WESTPORT, Conn. – A contestant in the Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon was rushed to Norwalk Hospital Sunday after suffering an apparent heart attack during the swim phase of the race. Race director Dom Gillen said the man was taken to Norwalk Hospital. An update on his condition was not available by the time the race ended at around 9:30 a.m. Lifeguards said the man was in his 60s. Gillen believed the man was in his 50s.
