New Canaan Woman Hits Her Stride in New York Race NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Saturday’s New York Mini 10K in Central Park will likely be the last race in the area for New Canaan native Hope Krause for a long time. So she made it one to remember. Krause, who is moving Tuesday, finished 20th overall in a field of 6,122 women. She ran a personal best 35:58 and was sixth among U.S. women. She was also fourth in her age group. The 24-year-old is a recent graduate of Boston College, is heading West. She has accepted a job teaching kindergarten near San Francisco in September. Stamford Junior Legion Team Comes Out Strong STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford’s American Legion Junior team has come roaring out of the gate with four straight victories heading into Monday’s game against Greenwich. Stamford, which reached the state game last year, opened its season with a 14-2 win over Wilton. Darien Eighth-Grade Boys Add Lacrosse Title DARIEN, Conn. — The Darien eighth-grade boys travel lacrosse team completed a perfect season Sunday at Yale, capturing the 2012 CONNY lacrosse championship. Darien defeated New Canaan, 6-4, in the championship game. It earned the title game by beating Greenwich, 9-3, in the semifinals. Darien finished the season 12-0. Norwalk Pitcher Saves Win for Team in Virginia NORWALK, Conn. – Rocco Cundari, a pitcher from Norwalk who attends Southern Connecticut State University, closed a victory for the Petersburg Generals. The Generals play in the Coastal Plain League, which includes teams in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Many of the top college players compete in the league for college-aged players.
