New Stamford Sports Facility Gets Final Touches STAMFORD, Conn. – In less than a month, the sports landscape will change dramatically in Fairfield County with the opening of Chelsea Piers Connecticut. The final pieces to the large puzzle are being put into place at the facility, which is being built on the former site of Clairol off of Exit 9 off Interstate 95. The facility will offer ice skating, swimming, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, tennis, squash, baseball, softball, field hockey and a trampoline center. New Canaan Girls Track Finishes Strong at Open NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan High School’s girls track team finished its season with several strong performances at the State Open. The 4 x 800 relay team placed eighth in 9:44.79 with Emily Wood, Alex Naughton, Isabel Hetherington and Stephanie Benko. Benko went on to run 11:10.37, a personal best, and finish seventh in the 3,200. The senior plans to continue her running career at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Isabel Herde finished 26th in the discus as New Canaan’s other participant in the State Open.

Clairol Takes Springdale Little League Title STAMFORD, Conn. – Jonas Harper pitched a two-hitter over 5 ? innings and hit a home run for the only scoring as Clairol defeated RMS Construction, 1-0, to capture the Springdale Little League title Thursday night. Clairol improved to 17-0, and the victory clinched the title for the second half of the season. Clairol also won the first half and earned the right to represent Springdale in the upcoming Stamford Tournament of Champions.
