Teams from Connecticut Boat Club in Norwalk, New Canaan Crew, Saugatuck Rowing Club, Norwalk River Rowing Association and Greenwich Crew will compete in the regatta. Two Greenwich Women Go Out on Top of College Rowing GREENWICH, Conn. – If the competitive rowing careers of Hunter Terry and Cristine Candland of Greenwich have come to a close, and it seems like they have, they certainly went out on top. The two seniors played significant roles in helping the University of Virginia win its second NCAA championship in three years last month in West Windsor, N.J. Fairfield County U13 Boys Soccer Team Wins Title FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Everton America Under 13 boys soccer team defeated the GFC Gunners last weekend to win the State Cup tournament, an event run by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association. Everton scored a goal early in the first half and added another late in the second half to take home the title. Everton also defeated Northeast United, 5-2, CFC Rocky Hill, 7-0, and Valeo, 2-1, en route to the title. Greenwich Rower Named to U.S. Paralympic Team FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Stamford’s Alex Stein and Greenwich’s Andrew Johnson have been named to the U.S. team that will compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games in Great Britain in August. They will be on the legs, trunk and arms four with coxswain, pending final approval of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Dorian Weber, Eleni Englert and Emma Preuschl round out the crew. Darien Student-Athletes Win League Honors FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Darien residents and Greens Farms Academy students Charlie Ross, Kate Tomlinson and Wills Rooney have been named Scholar Athletes by the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA). The honors were announced at the recent spring athletic banquet. The Scholar Athlete award goes to high school seniors who display excellence and superior achievement in both athletics and academics.
