McMahon's Bryan Daniello Wins Player of the Year NORWALK, Conn. – Brien McMahon High School pitcher Bryan Daniello was named the Connecticut Player of the Year on Wednesday by ESPNHS and Gatorade. Daniello, a senior who will continue his baseball career at the University of Connecticut, is 7-1 on the mound with a 1.35 ERA. At the plate, he has a .400 batting average, according to espn.go.com, with six home runs and 18 RBIs entering the state tournament. Daniello is the first player from Norwalk to win the award. Cranbury Ballplayers Pitch, Hit and Run NORWALK, Conn. – Players in the Cranbury Baseball league competed in a Pitch, Hit and Run competition Monday at Tim Devine Field. Players competed in different age divisions. They threw balls at a strike zone target, hit baseballs off a tee for distance and accuracy and were timed running from second base to home plate. The event was sponsored by Aquafina and Major League Baseball. Winners of the local competition advance to a sectional competition this weekend in Stamford. Norwalk's Adam Robertino Wins State Hurdles Title NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk High School senior Adam Robertino won the 110-meter high hurdles and finished second in the 300-meter hurdles at Tuesday’s Class L track and field championships at Middletown High School. Robertino won the 110 hurdles in 14.65, his best time of the year. He also had the fastest time in the preliminary heats. Teammate Hopeton Chambers finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Wilton Girls Win Relay Gold at State Track WILTON, Conn. – Wilton’s girls' track and field team won the 4 x 100-meter relay to lead performances by the Warriors at the Class L track and field championships Tuesday at Middletown High School.
