The Wreckers defeated the Rams, 93-52, and blanked Harding, 142-0. Staples enters its final meet of the season Monday against Norwalk and Stamford looking to go undefeated in the regular season. The team will be one of the contenders for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship in the league meet on May 22 at Danbury. New Canaan Red won the opener, 12-3. Trailing 2-0, Tyler Previte scored for Wilton on a terrific pass from Patrick Ciquera. Norwalk-Based Crews Strike Gold in State Regatta NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club scored big in The Gunnery’s annual Founders Day rowing regatta Sunday on Lake Waramaug. More than 20 teams competed, mostly from prep schools in New England, with one team from Ohio. One of the race organizers called conditions, “The best weather in the 53-year-history of the annual Founders Day Regatta.” With a race format of all 4+’s racing a distance of 1500 meters, CBC's varsity and novice boats placed first or second in every event. Rain Doesn't Dampen Mood of Longshore Women WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Longshore Women's Golf Association's opening day tournament was cancelled due to heavy rain, but the luncheon scheduled at Rizutto’s was well attended and a huge success. The association has many new members this year. President Linda Clair had everyone in the room introduce themselves. Although the golf was rained out, the women had an enjoyable afternoon of seeing old friends and making new friends. The group is in its 52nd season. Fairfield County Hoop Team Wins Tourney in N.Y. FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The Connecticut Premier Hoops All Star U-13 basketball team rolled into the Westchester Elite's Spring Hardwood Classic this past weekend and defeated four New York teams to take the tourney title. The team includes players from Darien, Fairfield, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport and Weston. Premier Hoops hit the century mark in a 100-20 crunching of Playmakers Gold in its first game.
