The Stags were ranked No. 16 in the nation, and two of their losses were to Loyola of Maryland, the No. 1 seed for the NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament. Branca, 86, tossed out a ceremonial first pitch to Nico Laveris, a player on Instant Replay in Stamford American’s Major Division. Norwalk, Easton Athletes Pace Field in Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. – Two of the world’s top age group endurance athletes paced the field Sunday in the Volvo of Stamford Greenwich Cup Biathlon at Tod’s Point. Eneas Freyre of Norwalk and Chris Thomas of Easton finished 1-2 in a field of nearly 200 in the 2.5 mile run, 10 mile bike and 2.5 mile run. Freyre finished in 47:10, followed by Thomas in 50:58. Norwalk-Based Cheer Team Competes in World Meet NORWALK, Conn. – Competing for the first time against international competition, the Norwalk-based Xtreme Cheer Connecticut Inferno distinguished itself at the Cheerleading and Dance World Championships last weekend in Orlando, Fla. Inferno finished 26th in the 43-team field and was the only Connecticut team in International Open Coed Level 5 event.
