Ashcraft Throws No-Hitter in Darien Babe Ruth Game DARIEN, Conn. – Carter Ashcraft pitched a no-hitter for the Martion Chioffi Darien team in the 14/15-year-old Babe Ruth league. Ashcraft’s gem helped his team beat Wilton, 6-0. A Wilton runner reached second base in the first inning, but that was the only baserunner Ashcraft allowed. Peter Grant’s two-run single in the first sparked Darien’s offense. Cole DeBeradinis, Matthew Gregory, Mac MaCaffery, Mason Propper and Danny Stewart all had hits to put away the game.  Two defensive gems saved Ashcraft’s no-hitter. Reilly Horan and Carly Dudzik were in the starting lineup Friday for No. 3 Amherst in a 6-4 win over No. 6 Husson. Amherst will play its next game Saturday at 9 a.m. The Massachusetts school is host of the eight-team double-elimination tournament. Horan had a hit and an RBI and scored a run in Friday’s win.
