Darien Football Alums Invited to Reunion DARIEN, Conn. – Darien High School’s football team will have an alumni dinner at 7 p.m. June 23 at the Piedmont Club. Coach Rob Trifone will host the reunion. In addition to meeting old friends and teammates, members of the current coaching staff will attend to provide updates on the team’s prospects for the upcoming season. The team also will be raising money to purchase new concussion resistant helmets. Alums interested in finding more information can send an email to [email protected].

Joel Barlow Girls Track Finishes 15-0 EASTON, Conn. – Joel Barlow’s girls track and field team defeated Weston, Oxford and Masuk on Monday to finish the season at 15-0. It was the second straight year the Falcons have gone undefeated against South-West Conference teams. Barlow beat Weston, 79-71; Oxford, 109-41; and Masuk, 116-34. The Falcons will be one of the teams in contention for the title at Monday’s league championship at Bethel High School. Soccer Forum in Westport Focuses on New Rules FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut high school soccer may look very different this fall. Beginning this year, the US Soccer Development Academy program moves to a 10-month season. Players who are selected for that level will be ineligible to compete for their high school teams. New Canaan Girls' Tennis Sweeps St. Joseph NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s girls' tennis team improved to 14-1 Monday with a 4-0 victory against St. Joseph. Three matches were not completed. Courtney Gallagher and Kate Howard won in straight sets at first and third singles, respectively. Sara Greene and Kristin Laub won at first doubles, and Amanda Merjian and Phoebe Wilks won at second doubles. They also posted straight-set wins. New Canaan plays Staples Tuesday at Shippan Racquet Club in the final regular season match. The Rams begin the conference tournament Thursday. The league championship is scheduled for May 23 at Wilton.

Staples Girls Track Finishes Unbeaten Season WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples girls track and field team finished the regular season undefeated Monday, topping Stamford, 117-27, and Norwalk, 118-25. Staples went 11-0 during the dual-meet season to win the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Central Division title for the first time since 2003. Staples now turn its attention to the league championship meet May 22 at Danbury High School. Darien also went 11-0 during the regular season.
