New Canaan Synchronized Swimmers Third in U.S. NEW CANAAN, Conn. --The New Canaan YMCA Aquianas Synchronized Swim team took third in the junior high point team award competition at the Junior U.S. National Championships earlier this month in Mesa, Ariz. “This is the best our team has ever done in the high point standings at junior nationals,” said head coach Jen Muzyk. “The team performed well and the girls all supported each other through the week of competition.” Nineteen Aquianas earned spots at the national championships based on high scores at qualifying meets. Weston Boys Lacrosse Wins Third Straight in OT WESTON, Conn. – Jack Scheufele’s third goal of the game came in overtime to give Weston’s boys lacrosse team a dramatic 8-7 win Saturday against Brookfield. Matt Brooks and Sean Fumai added two goals apiece for Weston while Zach Kraft had one. Richie Miller and Fumai added assists. Grant Limone made nine saves in goal for Weston. Boston Marathon a Battle, From Start to Finish FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – "Some Like It Hot" may have been a fine movie, but when it comes to marathons, no runner likes it hot. Especially me. I managed to finish Monday’s Boston Marathon in 4:37:42, in 15,232nd place out of 21,554 finishers. It was by far the worst time of the 10 marathons I have run. Although the raw numbers are disappointing, I am proud that I didn’t give up. Out of 26,656 registered runners, 22,480 started. Another 926 dropped out during the race. Temperatures soared into the high 80s, one of the four hottest races in the 116-year history of the event. Boston Marathon …

The 26.2-mile race begins in Hopkinton, Mass., at 10 a.m. and finishes on Boylston Street in Boston. The weather forecast is not favorable for the runners, with highs expected to approach 80 degrees. Norwalk Junior Football Extends Early Registration NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk Junior Football and Cheer has extended its early registration rates through June 30. The league is sponsored by the Norwalk Athletic Association. Players and cheerleaders can register at 2011 rates through June. Late registration begins July 1. No registration will be accepted after Aug 5. The league will have its open house and pizza party beginning at 7 p.m. April 27. The site has been changed to the American Legion Hall on County Street.
