That includes a pair of races this weekend in Easton and Westport, and ends with the popular Minute Man races in Westport on April 28. First up is Saturday’s April Fool’s 5K Race for DARE in Easton beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Samuel Staples Elementary School. Norwalk's Cranbury Baseball Gets in the Swing NORWALK, Conn. – Cranbury Baseball players smacked balls, fielded grounders and practiced throwing skills during tryouts for the new season Tuesday night at Cranbury Elementary School. Players in the Mustang and Bronco Divisions of the league who moved up in age groups had their skills evaluated by Cranbury coaches. The Bronco Division is for players ages 11- and 12-years-old. The Mustang Division is for players ages 9 and 10. Cranbury also offers leagues for players 7 and 8 (Pinto Division), 5 and 6 (Shetland) and 4 (Liberty). Norwalk Cheer Team Wins National Title FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Xtreme Cheer's Blaze team won first place to highlight a strong performance by the Norwalk-based squad at the U.S. Spirit National Cheerleading competition last weekend in Orlando, Fla. Inferno, a first-year international squad, earned honorable mention honors and received an invitation to compete at the Worlds Competition in April, also in Orlando. A runner from West Point, N.Y., paced the field in the much longer Boston Blowout 30K race Sunday in Fairfield. In the New Canaan 8K race, Watson ran home in 29:26, followed by Zengo in 30:31. Westhill Standouts Honored at Swim Banquet STAMFORD, Conn. – Westhill High School diver Sean Burston and swimmer Jeff Anderson were honored Tuesday at a dinner by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association. Burston won the State Open divining championship and Anderson won the 200-yard individual medley. Burston, a sophomore, also won the Lawrence C. Amann award as the state’s Diver of the Year for his victory in the State Open. Both athletes attend Westhill but compete for the co-op swim team from Westhill and Stamford High.
