The Premier Hoops squad is comprised of all-star 13-year-olds recruited from the Fairfield County Basketball League's winter season play. Participating in the Brewster, N.Y., Tip Off Classic, U-14 Division, the Premier U-13 squad went 2-1 in three games on Sunday. Norwalk Woman Plays in Historic Softball Game NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk’s Eileen Ornousky, a former softball star at Trinity Catholic in Stamford, played for Colgate University in the first softball game at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University Friday night. Colgate lost to Syracuse, 6-0. Ornousky, a junior, has started six games for Colgate (5-14) and is the team’s top hitter with a .318 average. She has seven hits and three RBIs, and had two hits in a 5-4 win over Canisius on Saturday. She played catcher and designated hitter.  Ornousky played in 16 games last season. She also played volleyball and basketball while at Trinity.    …

Greenwich, Darien Players Team to Win Wilton Open WILTON, Conn. – Juan Arraya and Boie Bogardus captured the A draw in the 29th annual Wilton Open on Saturday at the Wilton YMCA. The tournament featured 64 two-man teams in A and B Divisions. Greenwich resident Arraya, director of Racquet Sports at Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Weston, and Darien resident Bogardus won 6-4, 6-4 in the finals over Terry Doran and Anton Mavrin. Arraya and Bogardus, the head paddle professional at the New Canaan Field Club, were the No. 1 seeds. Doran and Mavrin were the No. 2 seeds. Jogger's Death Prompts Call for Safety Awareness NORWALK, Conn. – Recreational athletes in Norwalk are saddened but not surprised by the death of a jogger Saturday on New Canaan Avenue. Kenneth Dorsey, 44, of Norwalk was fatally injured by an SUV on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the area of 230 New Canaan Ave. The driver involved was a 16-year-old New Canaan girl. Dorsey was pronounced dead within a few hours at Norwalk Hospital. Charges have not been filed because the investigation is continuing. Wilton Y Wahoos Splash to State Title WILTON, Conn. – The Wilton Y Wahoos crushed the field to win the Connecticut Short Course Age Group championships at Wesleyan University. The Wahoos totaled 4,149 points to win by 712 points in the 51-team, four-day meet. The Wahoos were represented by 54 swimmers competing in 215 individual and 44 relay events.
