Notre Dame Rallies for Dramatic Victory in OT FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Notre Dame of Fairfield’s 67-64 overtime win in boys basketball over Brookfield on Tuesday was the most exciting of their 11-game winning streak. It was also its hardest. The Lancers rallied from eight points down in the final 58 seconds to stun the Bobcats. Earl Coleman’s driving layup at the buzzer sent the game into overtime. “I thought about shooting a three to win the game because I’m a risk-taker,’’ Coleman said. “But I saw the lane open and got to the basket.” Notre Dame improved to 16-4 overall, while Brookfield fell to 13-7. New Canaan Star Finishes Strong at Bowdoin NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The brilliant basketball career of New Canaan’s Will Hanley at Bowdoin College ended on Saturday when the team fell to Wesleyan, 78-59, in the quarterfinals of the conference playoffs. Hanley, a senior, finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds for Bowdoin, which finished the season 17-8. Hanley finished his career with 1,490 points (sixth all-time) and 883 rebounds (second all-time). He was a first-team, all-conference pick last year. Sixth-seeded Barlow (14-7) upended No. 3 Newtown on Saturday, 58-54. Brittany Dumas scored 21 points to lead the Falcons while Brittany Shea added 12. Fairfield Runners Compete at State Open FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Warde High senior Harry Warnick finished second in the 3,200 and third in the  1,600 to lead Fairfield athletes at the State Open track meet Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. Warnick ran 9:31:54 in the 3,200, a staggering 16-second drop from his seeded time in the event. Jake Feinstein of Newtown won the race in 9:28:53. Weston Girls Third in Pole Vault at State Open WESTON, Conn. – Weston junior Emily Savage took third place in the pole vault at Saturday’s State Open Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. Savage cleared 11-feet. Staples’ senior Lexie Schachne won with a leap of 11-feet, 6 inches. Newtown’s Lauren O’Connell took second and cleared the same height as Savage. Greenwich Boys Take Third at State Open Track GREENWICH, Conn. – Greenwich High senior Marcus Motill won the 600 meters and helped a relay to win gold to lead the Cardinals to a third-place finish Saturday at the State Open Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
