Mad Bull Wrestlers Strike Gold in Oxford NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk-based Mad Bull wrestling team grabbed 11 gold medals and two bronzes in the beginner’s tournament last weekend in Oxford. The Mad Bulls are a second-year team coached by Randy Haus, assisted by Art Schad and David Slapin. The victories at Oxford were the continuation of a strong season for the young grapplers, who also had strong showings in Danbury and Berlin earlier this month. Greens Farms Boys Beat Masters WESTPORT, Conn. – Junior center Sean Obi scored 14 points and grabbed 26 rebounds Wednesday to lead Greens Farms Academy’s boys basketball team to a 68-61 win over Masters School in a Fairchester Athletic Association game in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. The Dragons improved to 9-3 overall and 6-3 in the league. Masters is 6-3, 3-3. Tremont Waters scored 16 to lead Greens Farms. Wilton's Lady of Fatima Hosts Ugolyn Hoops Tourney WILTON, Conn. – The fifth annual Tyler Ugolyn Memorial Basketball Tournament tips off Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima in Wilton and runs through Feb. 10. It features 40 boys and girls teams in grades 3-8 from 15 schools. Towns represented include Norwalk, Stamford, Westport and Weston. The tournament is named after Tyler Ugolyn, a former Our Lady of Fatima student who died in the terrorist attacks in New York on Sept. 11, 2001. Young Wilton Wrestlers Shine at Oxford Meet WILTON, Conn. – Young Wilton wrestlers had an impressive medal haul at the Oxford-Derby Beginner’s Tournament last Saturday at Oxford High School. Wilton won six gold medals, three silvers and two bronzes. It is only the second year of competition for the Wilton wrestlers, but the medal total indicates they have a bright future. Norwalk Firefighters Skate to Hockey Title NORWALK, Conn – The Norwalk Fire Department hockey team had a red-hot fall season, winning the Tier 4 championship in the Connecticut Hockey League. Norwalk’s victory earlier this month at Shelton Twin Rinks is the culmination of a long, uphill climb for a team that disbanded in the late 1990s. The team started playing again in 2005 and gradually improved.
