Wilton Sprinters Reach Colgate Final WILTON, Conn – Wilton sprinters Brynn Parsons and Kafesha Thomas advanced to the finals of the Colgate Women’s Games in the 55-meter dash. The girls will compete in the finals Jan. 28 at Madison Square Garden. Parsons and Thomas run for the Wilton-based Connecticut Elite, which is coached by Wilton’s Kevin Foley. Thomas finished fourth in last Friday’s semifinals, running 7.44. Parsons finished a step behind her in 7.45. Nonprofit Groups Help Renovate Norwalk Gym NORWALK, Conn. – A community fundraising effort by two local nonprofit organizations has helped pay for gymnasium renovations at Norwalk's Roton Middle School. The renovations include new glass backboards and a state-of-the-art scoreboard. Weston 5th Graders Drop Tight Game to Brookfield WESTON, Conn. – The Weston fifth-grade Blue boys basketball team played one of its best games Friday in a narrow 3-point loss to Brookfield.  Lucas DiMartino, Andrew Chaglasian, Beck Reiferson and Connor Morikawa led Weston’s offensive attack against an aggressive Brookfield defense. Greyson Collins and Cade Lahn battled for rebounds, while Max Rapko, Scott Lyon and Noah Haberman played well in beating Brookfield’s press and setting up the offense. Both teams play in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Weston returns to the court Friday to meet Newtown at Weston Intermediate School.

Notre Dame Girls Hockey Falls to East Catholic FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Norwalk’s Becky Stefanatos scored for Notre Dame of Fairfield in a 6-1 loss to East Catholic of Manchester in a girls hockey game Friday night. Stefanatos’ goal with 9:43 left in the second period, assisted by Mallory Mancini, tied the game for Notre Dame. East Catholic answered seven second later on a goal by Elizabeth Caporale to take the lead for good. Caporale had three goals and an assist for East Catholic. Notre Dame goalie Brooke Bonetti kicked out 42 shots for the Lancers, who slipped to 3-8. East Catholic is 2-8.
