Fairfield Will Host Cheerleading Championships FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Cheerleaders from the region will compete for the conference championship at 6 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Seventeen schools from the conference will perform routines at the All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference and Partner Stunt Cheerleading Championships. Ticket prices are $5 for students and $7 for adults.

Snow Could Stop Fairfield County Run FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The snowstorm expected Saturday could force the postponement of Sunday’s Boston Buildup 15-kilometer run. The second race in the four-race series is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Scotland Elementary School in Ridgefield. Race director Jim Gerweck said a race update will be made sometime Saturday. Zeus Swimmers Splash to Victory at Spinola Meet NORWALK, Conn. – The Zeus Swim Club performed impressively last weekend at the Pat Spinola Invitational at Norwalk High School. The meet, named after the former Norwalk High School athletic director, featured teams from Connecticut and New York. Swimmers competed over three days. There was an 8-and-under competition on Friday, and a swimmers ages 9-17 competed on Saturday  and Sunday. Staples Boys Post 4th Straight Win WESTPORT, Conn. – Michael Argosh scored 15 points Thursday night as the Staples High School boys basketball team defeated Darien for its fourth straight victory. Peter Rankowitz added 14 for the Wreckers, who improved to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. And just like many of its other strong programs, the Inferno put on a dazzling performance en route to winning the championship in its debut. Norwalk 7th-Graders Stop Stamford NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk seventh-grade boys basketball coach Steve Irish sees talent in his young team when it plays in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Now he’s searching for a consistent level of performance. This past weekend was an example of Norwalk’s roller-coaster ride. Darien Swimmers Suffer First Loss DARIEN, Conn. – Darien’s boys swim team suffered its first loss Wednesday, 99-87, to the co-op Westhill/Stamford team at the Darien YMCA. The setback was the first after five straight victories.  There were several strong performances by the Blue Wave, who won two of the three relays. Christian Weeks, Nicolai Ostberg, Dylan Gilhooley and Sam Gillespie teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay, while Jack Bair, Chris Janson, James Baker and Tyler Gould won the 400 free relay.
