Westport Runners Shine in Pequot Race WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples High School senior Henry Wynne finished second and Luke McCambley, of Westport, finished third Thursday in the Pequot Runners 5-mile race in Fairfield. The race began at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport on a picture-perfect morning for running. Wynne cruised through the course in 26:09, while McCambley finished third in 26:11. Weston Runners Compete in Pequot Race WESTON, Conn. – Steven Vento finished sixth overall to lead Weston runners in the Pequot Runners 5-mile road race on Thanksgiving Day in Fairfield.  Vento, a former Weston High star who now runs for UConn, covered the Southport course in 27:19. Weston’s Brad DeMarco finished 10th and Ryan Gilmore finished 11th in a field of 4,223 finishers. Cameron Marantz, of Philadelphia, won the race in 25:25. Meredith Anand, of Easton, led the women’s field in 28:49. Weston’s Philip Merriss Jr. finished fifth in the men’s 60-69 age group. Complete results are available online.

Easton Woman Wins Pequot 5-Mile Race EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Meredith Anand won the women’s division Thursday of the Peqout Runners Thanksgiving Day 5-mile road race in Southport. Anand ran 28:48 on the flat course and won comfortably over Stamford’s Sharon Lemberger, who ran 29:16. Hope Krause of New Canaan was third in 29:17. There were 4,233 finishers in the race, which began at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Fairfield. Cameron Marantz, of Philadelphia, won the event in 25:25, an average of 5:05 per mile. Norwalk Packers Play for New England Title NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Packers fourth grade football team will play in Saturday’s New England championship against the Londenderry, N.H. Wildcats as if it’s the national championship game. For all intents and purposes, it is the Packers’ title game. Win or lose, Saturday’s game in Leominster, N.H.,  will be the final game of the season for the Packers. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Doyle Field. Norwalk YMCA Hosts Free-Throw Contest NORWALK Conn. – The Norwalk YMCA will host the "Free Throws for Fatherhood and FunFest" on Dec. 3 to benefit the Faith, Integrity, Sacrifice, Leadership, Legacy program and other youth mentoring programs at the YMCA. The Norwalk YMCA and Allan Houston Legacy Foundation developed the program to help fathers strengthen their relationships with their kids. Greenwich's McHale Named Yale Captain GREENWICH, Conn. – Two huge honors for Greenwich’s Will McHale rolled in after the Yale football team ended its season Saturday with a 45-7 loss to Harvard. McHale, a junior, earned second team All-Ivy League honors on Tuesday. Earlier, he was named the captain of the team for next season. New Canaan Receiver Wins All-Ivy Honors NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s Kurt Ondash capped his junior football season at Cornell with a career-high in receptions in the final regular season game and second team All-Ivy League honors. Ondash, who starred at New Canaan High School, had 10 receptions for 194 yards in a 48-34 win over Penn last Saturday. He finished the season with 54 catches for 856 yards and five touchdowns.
