Bingham scored the game’s only goal in the first half to lift Westhill to a 1-0 victory over Staples Tuesday in a Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference game. Rachel Benz assisted on Bingham’s game-winner as the Vikings improved to 10-1-1. Westhill’s only loss this season is to unbeaten St. Joseph. Staples fell to 5-4-1. Jesse Ambrose made eight  saves for Westhill while Allie Souza made eight for the Vikings. Norwalk's Sonics Win a Pair to Stay Unbeaten NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Junior Soccer Association's Sonics under-13 girls won two games this past weekend. The Sonics remain undefeated at the top of their division with two more games to play. On Saturday, the Sonics won against Wilton, 7-1. The Sonics dominated from the start with forward Melissa Guzman quickly scoring. She scored two more goals later  in the first half. The family of Stamford native Brian Bill, a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed in action on Aug. 6 in Afghanistan, accepted the Chelsea Cohen Courage Award. New Canaan swimmer Christian Higgins was also honored as the town’s Sports Person of the Year. Wolfpack Win Holiday Baseball Tournament FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The Connecticut Wolfpack baseball team won the 13-and-under Triple Crown 11th Annual Columbus Day Championship, going 4-0 on the weekend. The team earned a bid to go to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and compete in the National Tournament. The team is made up of players from Fairfield County. Fairfield Giants Pee Wees Win 6th Straight FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Giants Pee Wee team defeated Milford, 31-0, for its sixth straight win in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner Football Conference. The victory improved the Giants’ record to 6-1. For the second straight week, running back Brian Azarian broke free for a TD on his first carry of the game. Westport Golfer Wins Player of the Week Award WESTPORT, Conn. – Campbell University freshman Andrew Gai was named Choice Hotels Big South Men’s Golfer of the Week. The freshman from Westport finished third at the Philadelphia Big Five Invitational. Campbell University is located in North Carolina.  Gai shot a 1-over 141 (71-70) on the par-70, 6,600-yard Plymouth Country Club course to earn his second top-three showing in three collegiate tournaments.  In the second round, he had three birdies on the course that yielded just two finishers in red among a 114-golfer field. The Wreckers got locked into another tight one on Monday and this time came out ahead. Harry Birch’s header in the 62nd minute gave Staples a 1-0 victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference game.
