Easton Triathlete Finishes Season Strong EASTON, Conn. Easton triathlete Chris Thomas finished his competitive season with an eighth place finish in his age group at the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Thomas finished the race in nine hours, seven minutes and eight seconds. It was a personal best time. He finished eighth among 260 men in his age group and 60th overall. The race, held earlier this month, had 1,855 starters. The race consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run. Thomas swam in 1:00.17, which ranked 28th in his age group. New Canaan Triathlete 4th in Ironman Age Group NEW CANAAN, Conn. New Canaan triathlete Eben Jones finished fourth in his age group last week at the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Jones, 51, finished 333rd overall in a field of 1,918 athletes. The race consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile marathon. He finished in 9 hours, 48 minutes and 53 seconds. Earlier this year, Jones won his age group at the USA Triathlon Age Group Championships in Vermont. Norwalk, McMahon Hit the Road This Weekend NORWALK, Conn. Norwalk's and Brien McMahon's football teams hit the road this weekend for key games in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. Norwalk visits Ridgefield Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff, while the Senators travel to Fairfield Ludlowe Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. Longshore Women Host Fall Cup WESTPORT, Conn. Joanna Nicholson won the final major of the season in the Longshore Women's Golf Association, capturing the groups Fall Cup. Nicholson shot a 67 net to win by one stroke over Pat Kimball and Jean Murdoch. Barbara Karis Downey shot 69, and Janice Dean posted a 71.

Skating Show Supports Breast Cancer Survivors STAMFORD, Conn. Several world class and nationally ranked skaters will participate as Terry Conners Rink in Stamford hosts a skating show and candlelight ceremony to benefit the Breast Cancer Survival Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday. New Quarterback Puts Darien on the Move DARIEN, Conn. Darien Highs football team had many players to replace from last years Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship team. Among them was the quarterback, where Chris Allam had thrown 16 touchdown passes and rushed for 607 yards. Henry Baldwin replaced Allam this year, without a ripple in the quality. Norwalk/McMahon Girls Swimmers Soar to 7-0 NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk-Brien McMahon co-op girls swimming team will take a 7-0 record into Mondays showdown with undefeated Greenwich after dunking Ridgefield, 100-78, on Thursday in Ridgefield. Greens Farms Boys Soccer Nets Victory WESTPORT, Conn. The Greens Farms Academy boys soccer team defeated Christian Heritage, 4-1. Junior Charles Salmans of Darien got GFA on the board with a well-placed header from a Munir Qaddourah corner.
