See Photos of Stamford's Amateur Golfers STAMFORD, Conn. — Teenager Alexander Rossetti won the men's title while Debbie Johnson captured her fourth women's crown in the final round Sunday of the Stamford Amateur Golf Championship at Sterling Farms Golf Course. Rossetti won by one shot over Jim Romaniello and Cahal McMonagle. Johnson enjoyed a 17-shot victory in the women's field. Take a look at some of the players in Sunday's final round. Madwed 2nd in U.S. Swimming Championships STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford swimmer Dan Madwed had two top-six finishes last week at the ConocoPhillips National Championships at Stanford University in California. Madwed, a rising senior at the University of Michigan, swam for Westhill High School. Madwed took second in the 200-meter butterfly. He finished in 1:56.71, just behind Robert Bollier, who swam 1:56.64. Madwed led the race for the first 100 meters before Bollier caught him with a strong surge in the final 50 meters. Tamarack Swimmers Take Division Title GREENWICH, Conn. – Host Tamarack Country Club won the Division 5 championship Saturday, amassing 1,020 points to outdistance Silver Spring and Weston Field Club. In one of the meet highlights, Weston's Charlie Palsho erased a 13-year-old record in the 25-meter breaststroke. Tamarack, located in Greenwich, dominated the girls’ events, picking up 619 points. Silver Spring led the boys scoring with 485 points. Tamarack went 4-1 during the regular season, sharing the top spot with Stanwich, which finished fifth in Saturday's meet. The Americans are 1-1 in pool play. They meet Maine on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The game against Maine was postponed Saturday by rain. Young Soccer Players Play with England Stars NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk-based Everton America CT premier soccer club welcomed its official partner from the English Premier League and also had several players work as ball boys for a Major League Soccer game in Philadelphia.
