Norwalk Golfer Wins Ike Tournament NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk's Tommy McDonagh added another marquee trophy to his collection Tuesday by winning the 56th Ike Championship at Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville, N.J. McDonagh, a recent graduate of Penn State, plays out of Shorehaven in Norwalk. He won the Connecticut Amateur last week. McDonagh finished 54 holes tied with Huntington's Joe Saladino at 5-under-par 211. The players were still tied after a three-hole aggregate playoff, sending them to sudden death. Weston Teen Finishes Philadelphia Triathlon WESTON, Conn. -- Recent Weston High School graduate Carmine Magnoli competed in the Philadelphia Triathlon last weekend to raise money for cancer research. The Olympic-distance race consisted of a 1.5K swim in the Schuykill River, a 40K bike ride and a 10K run. Magnoli, a standout on the Weston wrestling team last season, finished in 3:01.35. Magnoli was a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Team in Training. He raised over $2,500 in donations to support life-saving cancer research. "This is the first time in a few years we've sent a team to Henley, '' Maritime coach Yan Vengerovskiy said. "We're proud to be part of it, and we're anticipating a good race." Laurel Athletic Club Plans Golf Tournament NORWALK, Conn. -- The Laurel Athletic Club will hold its annual golf tournament, the Pat Tomaasetti Memorial, on Monday, July 11, at Oak Hills Golf Park in Norwalk. It will be a scramble with foursomes made up of men and women. Men will play from white tees, women from red tees, 72 and over from gold tees (optional).
