The meet last weekend featured 16 teams and 208 Junior Olympic athletes attempting to qualify for the Zone Competition from July 7 to 9 in Rockville, Md. Thomas Leads Strong Showing by Triathletes EASTON, Conn. -- Chris Thomas continues to dominate the Pat Griskus Olympic Triathlon. The Easton resident and Southport business owner won his fifth straight race in Middlebury on Saturday, cruising to victory by over a two-minute margin. Thomas, 39, finished in 1:46.09. The course consists of a 1-mile swim, 25-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run. Thomas' best leg was the bike,, where he ranked first. He was second in the 10k with a time of  34:45. Westport's Staples Rugby Finishes 4th in State WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples High School's rugby team finished as the No. 4 team in Connecticut and had six players selected to the All-State team that won the New England Championship Tournament in Amherst, Mass. Staples opened the season in March with a win in its pre-season "showcase" match against highly regarded New England powerhouse Belmont High School, from the Boston suburbs.
