Easton Athlete Wins Triathlon 5th Straight Time EASTON, Conn. -- Chris Thomas continues to dominate the Pat Griskus Olympic Triathlon. The Easton resident and Southport business owner won his fifth straight race, cruising to victory Saturday in Middlebury, Conn., by more than two minutes. Thomas, 39, finished in 1:46.09. The course consists of a 1-mile swim, 25-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run. Thomas' best leg was the bike, where he ranked first. He ranked second with a 10K time of 34:45. He ranked 17th on the swim. Rangers Win Westport Minor League Crown WESTPORT, Conn. — The Rangers defeated the Tigers, 6-2, to win the Minor Division playoffs in the Westport Little League. The Rangers finished the season at 12-4 on a six-game winning streak. They defeated the Tigers twice Saturday, winning the opener, 10-1. The team includes Harris Azadian, Dobson Cooper, Alex Cheema, Cameron Day, Jackson Daignault, Matthew Greenapple, Tristan Hochman, Jacob Kogan, Jack Portman, Jonathon Maisonet and Ben Seiple. The Norwalk-based team, which won the city championship last year, punched its return ticket to the national tournament by winning a qualifier last week in Branford. Triathletes Hit the Road, Water in Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- Runners, cyclists and swimmers cruised through Westport early Sunday morning in the first Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon. The event, sponsored by Targetraining of Westport, featured 158 finishers and four relay teams. The competitors swam one-half mile, rode bikes 13 miles and finished with a 3.1-mile run. Jim Ball of Enfield and Suzie Snyder were the men's and women's overall winners.
