Duke Star Holds Lacrosse Clinic at Wakeman Former Duke University star Ned Crotty will host a lacrosse clinic Friday, June 3, at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport. Crotty, a three-time All-American, will be joined by Wakeman alums Pat Dowling, Robert Rotanz, Brendan Rotanz, Tucker Shanley and Chase Bailey. All are Division I lacrosse standouts. The clinic runs from 4-5:30 p.m., and the fee is $20. Players in grades 5-8 will learn offensive and defensive skills through drills and competitions. Tane Wins Buck Tournament at Longshore Alison Tane shot a net 65 to win medalist honors in the Longshore Women's Golf Association George Buck Tournament. The tournament is named after the club's long-time professional, who died in 1991. The tournament began in 1962. After a qualifying round, the top 16 players advance to match play competition over a three-week stretch. The tournament is one of the marquee events of the LWGA. Women Rowers Reach NCAA Finals Former Connecticut Boat Club rower Kelsey Reelick helped Princeton University win the Women's Varsity 8+ in last week's NCAA Championships at Lake Natoma, Calif. Reelick's victory was the highlight of a strong performance by women from Main Street Connect communities in the national championships. Reelick is a freshman at Princeton. New Canaan Runners Win at State Track New Canaan's Caroline Murray won the 1,600 meters and finished second in the 3,200 meters to lead the Rams to a sixth-place team finish Thursday at the Class L track and field outdoor championships at Middletown High School. New Canaan's boys won the 4 x 800 and finished 11th in team scoring. Murray won the 1,600 in 5:14.25, holding off a late charge from Fairfield Warde's Cate Allen, who ran 5:14.79. Emily Savage won one event and finished third in two others to lead the girls to a fourth-place finish. Sophomore David Stankiewicz won the 800 in 1:57.96, a personal best.
