Ex-Convict Ganim Claims Victory In Bridgeport Mayoral Primary BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Former Mayor Joseph Ganim declared victory Wednesday night in the Democratic primary election over incumbent Mayor Bill Finch and businesswoman Mary-Jane Foster, according to the Connecticut Post. The race had drawn national attention because Ganim was convicted of 16 federal charges of corruption while mayor and served more than seven years in federal prison. Two Arrested After Daytime Burglary In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. — Two men were arrested on gun charges after a Norwalk resident caught a couple of burglars breaking into his home, police said. Dashawn Hall, 19, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, second-degree burglary, theft of a firearm and conspiracy. He was held on $75,000 bond. Darien Police: Car Burglary Suspects Linked To Nationwide Gang DARIEN, Conn. – A couple of stolen purses thrown into a Dumpster and a stolen cellphone dropped in a motel parking lot played key roles in helping Darien police nab three Florida men on car burglary charges. Last week, police arrested three Fort Lauderdale men in connection with a series of smash-and-grab car burglaries. Darien Runner Wins Age Group At 5th Avenue Mile DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien runner Jennifer St. Jean finished first in her age group at the 5th Avenue Mile race in New York City on Sunday. St. Jean competed in the Women 40-49 race and won with a mile time of 5:06. The finishing time placed her 21st out of 2,881 female runners across all age groups in the race. Celebrating its 35th year, the 5th Avenue Mile brought more than 6,000 runners across all ages to compete over 20 blocks of New York City streets Sunday. Man Reports Robbery, Assault In South Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- A man reported being hit and robbed by two men in South Norwalk early Sunday morning. The robbery was reported at 2:47 a.m. Sunday. The victim told police that two men had followed him over the Stroffolino Bridge as he was walking home from a club.
