State Police Take Over Search For Missing Easton Couple EASTON, Conn. -- Connecticut State Police have taken over the search for an Easton couple who disappeared earlier this month. Jeanette Navin, 55, and her husband, Jeffrey Navin, 56, have not been seen or heard from since Tuesday, Aug. 4. They were reported missing to police on Friday, Aug. 7. Easton police began an investigation and searched for the couple throughout the weekend. An older Dodge pickup truck belonging to the couple was found on Sunday, Aug. 9 in Westport in a commuter parking lot off the Merritt Parkway, police said. Man Broke Into Several Darien Cars, Police Say DARIEN, Conn. -- A homeless Stamford man was charged with trying to steal a car and breaking into eight unlocked cars in Darien early Wednesday morning, according to police. Joel Mackinnon, 48, was charged with first-degree larceny, eight counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of sixth-degree larceny, and two counts of second-degree failure to appear in court. He was held on a $28,500 bond and will appear in court Thursday. Silver Alert Issued For Missing Danbury Teen DANBURY, Conn. -- Police are searching for a missing 14-year-old last seen in Danbury on Monday. A silver alert was issued for Jessica Samaniego on Tuesday. Police said she is an endangered runaway. She is described as a Hispanic female with blonde hair and brown eyes. She is about 4-foot-11 and weighs approximately 100 pounds. Samaniego was last seen Monday, Aug. 17. Anybody with information is asked to call the Danbury Police Department at (203) 797-4611.

Community Mourns Former Norwalk Residents Killed In Taconic Parkway Crash NORWALK, Conn. -- Two former Norwalk residents killed in a crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown over the weekend were remembered for their musical ability. Ledell Mulvaney, 61, and her daughter Katherine Mulvaney, 31, were killed Saturday in a four-car crash on the Taconic State Parkway. An SUV driven by 33 year-old Nerim Sinanovic was traveling northbound when it hit a median and became airborne and crashed into the southbound lanes, according to New York State Police. Harry Connick Jr.'s Daughter Charged In Underage Party In New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Singer Harry Connick Jr.'s daughter was issued a summons for hosting a party at her New Canaan house with underage guests, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. Police told the Advertiser that officers were called to a West Road home early Saturday morning where Georgia Connick, 19, had hosted a party with several underage guests. Police: Stamford Man Showed Porn Video To Westport Kids WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Stamford man showed two Westport children a pornographic video on his phone, according to police. Luis Guevara, 37, was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of disorderly conduct. He was held on a $30,000 bond and will appear in court Aug. 24. Labor Dept. Cracks Down On Fairfield County Salons Over Wage Violations FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The Department of Labor issued $100,000 in fines and recovered $47,000 in owed wages at nail salons around the state, including locations in Stamford, Westport, Darien and Southport. The department's Wage and Workplace Standards Division investigated 25 nail salons and shut down 23 for wage violations in response to several complaints from nail salon employees and recent news articles about questionable health and employment practices. Norwalk Police To Step Up Handicapped Parking Enforcement NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police will be paying extra attention to people parking in handicapped parking spaces and will issue tickets to violators.
