The Depot teen center is hosting its annual Wrap Up event through Sunday. In years past, the money raised by wrapping gifts has been used to sponsor Depot activities. But this year, all proceeds will be donated to the Silver Bay YMCA in honor of the late Tighe Sullivan. Sullivan was killed in a helicopter crash in Pennsylvania in October. Metro-North Fares To Increase For New Canaan Train Riders FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Fares will increase 5.04 percent for Metro-North riders in Connecticut beginning Jan. 1. The increase is part of a budget proposed last year by Gov. Dannel Malloy. Fares went up 5.25 percent at the start of 2012 and are expected to rise in the beginning of 2014 as well. The fare increase was the first in seven years. The new rates will affect ticket prices for travel between stations within Connecticut and travel between Connecticut and New York stations. Darien Scouts Give To Person-To-Person DARIEN, Conn. - Darien Cub Scouts have spent this month helping out the local charity Person-to-Person. Pack 155 from Holmes Elementary held a food drive to help fill Person-to-Person's emergency food pantry, and collected new children's books for the Person-to-Person Holiday Toy Store. Elderly Woman Hit By Car In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. - An elderly woman was struck by a car in Norwalk on Tuesday afternoon while crossing the street, police said. The 82-year-old woman stepped off the curb on West Avenue about 12:30 p.m. when a car traveling southbound struck her, police said. The woman was not in the crosswalk. Witnesses told police that the driver swerved to avoid hitting her, but ended up striking her with the side mirror and windshield. Paramedics arrived on the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. Police did not provide details on the woman's condition.
