Local Artist's Work Put On Display At Darien Library DARIEN, Conn. — The art of L.D. D’Isernia is on display in the Darien Library’s art gallery through Jan. 17. D’Isernia is a native of Rye, N.Y., who specializes in oil paintings. She was initially inspired by her great-grandfather, an accomplished oil painter in New York City. She graduated from SUNY-Purchase and studies with her mentor, Laurel Stern Boeck, an accomplished congressional oil painter. Darien To Open Gorham's Pond Tide Gates DARIEN, Conn. — Darien will open the Gorham's Pond tide gates Thursday for periodic flushing and cleaning of the pond. The gates are scheduled to be closed again Tuesday, Dec. 18. The opening or closing of the gates may be delayed depending on the weather, according to the town Department of Public Works. It is not possible to open the gates after extensive rainstorms or on very high tides because of the large volume of water flowing over the dam. The Department of Public Works intends to have the gates closed before Christmas.

Tyrone Patterson, 27, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession near a school and interfering with an officer. Darien Luncheon Raises $12,000 For Stamford Charity DARIEN, Conn. — The annual Holiday Luncheon and Boutique at the Country Club of Darien raised more than $12,000 for the Stamford Advocate’s Giving Fund. Attendees also donated food and toiletries to the Person-to-Person food pantry. This was the 12th year of the holiday event, which was started in the wake of Sept. 11 as an opportunity to support local charities that benefit women and children. Borecki has seen great success in the Geography Bee competitions over the years.
