Norwalk Celebrates Hanukkah With Menorah Lighting NORWALK, Conn. – Jewish songs, dancing and prayer highlighted a celebration of the third night of Hanukkah as Norwalk leaders lit an 18-foot menorah at Stew Leonard’s Monday. Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht of Beth Israel of Westport and Norwalk led the ceremony, which is now in its 20th year at the grocery store. It was co-sponsored by the Schneerson Center for Jewish Life. Police: Norwalk Man Almost Hit Darien Officer With Car DARIEN, Conn. – A Norwalk man was charged last week with almost hitting a Darien police officer with his car in November. William Henneberry, 33, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of disobeying the signal of an officer. He posted $5,000  bail and is scheduled to appear Dec. 13 in court. The arrest stems from a Nov. 19 incident, in which two police officers were coordinating traffic at the intersection of Post Road and Leroy Avenue while workers were installing a new gas line. Darien To Honor Veterans With Wreath Ceremony DARIEN, Conn. – Darien will be laying more than 950 wreaths in a Dec. 15 ceremony in honor of the nation’s veterans. The event is part of the annual Wreaths Across America event, which pays tribute to veterans by placing wreaths at more than 750 locations across the country. Darien’s wreaths will be placed on the graves of soldiers at the Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery on Hecker Avenue.
