Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lourie grew up in Connecticut and Ontario, Canada. His interest in exploration, however, would take him around the world. Lourie spent time with Margaret Leakey in Kenya, studying early human bones, and was on the path to becoming an anthropologist when he heard a story about a treasure trove of gold still undiscovered in the cloud forest of the Andes Mountains. Rutherford High School Senior Wins Girl Scout Gold Award RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- St. Mary High School senior Amanda Witkowski has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award by raising awareness of autism spectrum disorders. Witkowski spoke about autism at events and community group meetings, and distributed information through pamphlets, posters, and flyers and website postings. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn, requiring the completion of a leadership project of at least 80 hours. Recipients must discover an issue within the community, connect with experts and community members and take action to effect positive change.

The zoning official’s determination was upheld by the zoning board in a vote on Nov. 5, NorthJersey.com reports.
