Author Peter Lourie Visits Royle Elementary School Students In Darien
DARIEN, Conn. -- Author Peter Lourie recently paid a visit to students at Royle Elementary School to discuss his adventurous life.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lourie grew up in Connecticut and Ontario, Canada. His interest in exploration, however, would take him around the world.
Lourie spent time with Margaret Leakey in Kenya, studying early human bones, and was on the path to becoming an anthropologist when he heard a story about a treasure trove of gold still undiscovered in the cloud forest of the Andes Mountains.

Valley Regional Adult Education Hosts Citizenship Classes In Shelton
SHELTON, Conn. -- Valley Regional Adult Education is offering an eight-week series of citizenship classes designed to teach American history and government to those preparing for the U.S. citizenship exam and interview.
The courses, which are open to residents of Ansonia, Derby, Monroe, Seymour and Shelton, will be held on Wednesdays at the Shelton Intermediate School, 675 Constitution Blvd. North.
Registration will take place the first night of class, Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.
Westport Library Offering Weaving Sessions For Kids During Holiday Break
WESTPORT, Conn. -- The children’s department at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road, is offering a series of free weaving projects for children from Saturday, Dec. 26, to Monday, Jan. 4.
Children of all ages are invited to drop by anytime during school vacation and weave on a giant loom.
Materials are provided, but participants can also bring items such as yarn, ribbon scraps and crepe paper to add to their projects.
