Danbury Hospital Offers Basic Emergency Medical Technician Course DANBURY, Conn. -- Western Connecticut Health Network Emergency Medical Services will offer a basic emergency medical technician course at Danbury Hospital starting Tuesday, Jan. 12. The three-month course will meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 11 p.m., and occasional Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Upon completion of the EMT-basic class, participants will be qualified to take the National Registry exams to receive Connecticut and National EMT-B certification. Shelton's Plumb Library Celebrates 120th Anniversary Sunday SHELTON, Conn. -- Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., is hosting a reception to mark the facility’s 120th anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, will also recognize local craftsmen and merchants who have helped with restoration details on the original library’s reading room. The venue was completed and dedicated in December of 1895, a gift to the community from David Wells Plumb and his wife, Louise Wakelee Plumb. The facility was expanded in 1975.

The 5K starts at 10 a.m., and the one-mile fun run at 11 a.m. at the Boathouse Cafe in Memorial Park. Registration is $30 for the 5K and free for the fun run, with a suggested donation of $5. Man Apprehended After I-87 Police Chase New York State Police have arrested a 53-year-old man after a pursuit on I-87 in Newburgh which ended in the Town of Olive, officials report. The suspect, Paul D. Koksvik, a resident of Newburgh, was reported to be traveling southbound in the northbound lane on Interstate 87, according to police.
