Ridgewood's Travell School Seeking Alumni For Anniversary Celebration RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Travell Elementary School is searching for alumni to attend a celebration of the school’s 50th anniversary. The event will be held at the school, 627 E. Ridgewood Ave., on Friday, Jan. 15, at 1:30 p.m. The festivities will include a student performance honoring the 1960s, followed by an alumni reception. Grant Jumpstarts Danbury Hospital's Pancreatic Cancer Study DANBURY, Conn. -- Researchers at the Western Connecticut Health Network – which includes Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals – have announced a new study designed to yield insights into how to detect and treat pancreatic cancer. WCHN researchers will focus on the potential development of biomarkers for pancreatic cancer from small, non-coding RNA molecules – ncRNA – genetic material that is present in the blood of patients with the disease. Darien Republicans Seek Applicants For Town Committee DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Republican Town Committee Nominating Committee is seeking applicants to be elected to the new RTC, which will be elected at a town-wide caucus on Monday, January 11, 2016. Six Stamford Teens Who Made Themselves At Home Charged With Burglary STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Police Juvenile Division, in conjunction with the burglary squad, have arrested six youths involved in a burglary that occurred at a residence on South Lake Drive during the summer. In July, a homeowner told police he believed his residence had been broken into on several occasions while he was away, police report. Lodi Students Deck The Halls LODI, N.J. -- Seniors at Immaculate Conception High School recently took part in the annual tradition of decorating the school's Christmas tree. Each senior was given a silver bell with his or her name engraved on it to hang. “It’s a rite of passage and a senior privilege to decorate the tree our last year at ICHS,” senior Arianna Azzolino said. Along with the holiday festivities, the school is holding a Christmas toy drive, collecting donations until Dec. 18.

Lt. Gov. Guadagno Plans To Knock The Socks Off Ridgewood Students RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will be visiting Ridgewood High School on Thursday, Dec. 10, to help kick off the #RockYourSocks campaign to collect new pairs of socks for Covenant House. She will also be speaking about government, civic duty and volunteerism to students. Guadagno was sworn in as New Jersey’s first lieutenant governor on January 19, 2010, and was elected to a second term in 2013. She also serves as New Jersey’s 33rd secretary of state.

Demarest Leaf Collection Changing To Bags DEMAREST, N.J. -- Demarest residents will no longer be able to put piles of leaves out for collection. As of December 20, all leaves are to be bagged for pick-up. The Department of Public Works notes that weather, breakdowns and other conditions can slow down the process of leaf collection, and asks residents to be mindful of leaf crews in the roadway.
