State Sen. Carlucci Honored At Rockland Jewish Family Service Brunch
NEW CITY, N.Y. -- State Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) was honored at Rockland Jewish Family Service's Unsung Heroes Brunch on Sunday, Dec. 6. The senator was recognized for his support of RJFS's Eating Disorder Outreach and Education program. Carlucci was able to secure a $25,000 grant to expand the eating disorder program into high schools throughout Rockland County.

Art Students Sell Handmade Ceramics
DANBURY, Conn. -- The Western Connecticut State University Department of Art will host a ceramics sale on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 10 and 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 012 of White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The public is invited. Students in Western’s art department will be selling their hand-made ceramics products at the event. Two ceramics classes comprised of 39 students have produced a variety of functioning, non-toxic plates and bowls. Some of the pieces are made with pigmented clays, while others are glazed. Paterson School To Present Adaptation Of 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'
PATERSON, N.J. -- The Rosa L. Parks School of Fine and Performing Arts, 413 12th Ave., will present "It's the Holidays, Charlie!" on Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Lou Costello Theater. Fairfield Social Services Asks The Public To Help Those In Need
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Social Services is reaching out to the community to help the less fortunate during the holiday season. The group’s latest project, the Family Holiday Program, provides gift certificates and gift cards in lieu of wrapped presents to families in need. Donations to assist in the effort are welcome. Teen Advisory Board Holds 'Food for Fines' Drive at Monroe Library
MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library’s teen advisory board is holding a “Food for Fines” drive to support the Monroe Food Pantry. Now through Dec. 31, patrons can bring non-perishable food items to the library checkout desk. For each item, librarians will subtract 50 cents from the patron's fines. The offer does not apply to lost or damaged books. Those who donate and don't have fines will receive a raffle ticket for each item. Garfield YMCA Offering Free Swimming Lessons For Grade-School Children
GARFIELD, N.J. -- The Garfield YMCA will host a free beginner’s swim class from Monday, Dec. 21 to Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016. The lessons are open to children in grades K through 3 who live in Garfield, Lodi, Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook and Wallington. PSE&G is sponsoring the classes.
