Lundeen: Stop Scaring Darien's Seniors DARIEN, Conn. – The following piece on the Darien Senior Center was submitted by John Lundeen, Democratic candidate for first selectman. A lot of seniors are being told a scare story by the Republicans seeking to hang onto control of the Board of Selectmen. They are telling the seniors that if they want a new senior center, they must fall into line and vote for the current board majority, under a shuffled leadership in the person of Mrs. Jayme Stevenson. This is misinformation deliberately being sown at the Senior Center, where the Republican ticket has been holding its news conferences. Ou…

Darien Chamber Says It's Politically Neutral DARIEN, Conn. – Carol Wilder-Tamme said Monday that neither she nor the Darien Chamber of Commerce is taking a stance on the upcoming town elections.  The chamber president's statement came in reaction to a letter that appeared on The Daily Darien over the weekend from Richard Kelsey, chairman of the Darien Chamber. Wilder-Tamme said she was concerned that the letter, which ran under the headline "Darien Chamber Head Endorses Lundeen," made it seem as if she was endorsing a candidate, since she is often seen in town as the face of the Darien Chamber. She released a statement Monday saying th…

Letter: Darien Democrats Address Public Safety DARIEN, Conn. – The following letter was submitted by Darien residents David Kahn and Holly Schulz. We're writing to express our gratitude for all the support we've received over the past two years from David Bayne during our efforts to encourage the town of Darien to address pedestrian safety issues, specifically sidewalks along Hoyt Street near the Talmadge Hill train station. As commuters, we are personally affected by the lack of pedestrian access to our neighborhood public transit. Many residents of our neighborhood utilize Hoyt Street to walk to work while navigating a road filled with…
