Former McMahon Coach Casagrande Remembered The death on Monday of former Brien McMahon football and wrestling coach Jack Casagrande cast a pall over the Norwalk high school. Casagrande was 73 and died from cancer. Athletic director Joe Madaffari remembered Casagrande as a dedicated coach and teacher who was selfless in working with students. "He coached with his heart,'' Madaffari said. "He made sports a positive experience for kids. He instilled pride in the kids that played for him. It wasn't about how many wins he had. It was about how many wins the kids had. He just wanted the kids to be successful." Casagrande coached the Senat…
Westport Rower Commits to Penn Westport Rower Commits to Penn Westport Rower Commits to Penn
Westport Rower Commits to Penn Rowing has played a large part in defining Sue Greenberg as an athlete. The Westport teen won a silver medal at the U.S. Junior championships in June with the Saugatuck Rowing Club 4x, and she competed with Alex Zadravec at the World Rowing Juniors in August. When it came to her college choice, however, the sport played a secondary role in her decision to attend the University of Pennsylvania. The Staples High School senior said the lure of a major in market and social systems engineering persuaded her to call Philadelphia home for the next four years. According to the Penn website, the majo…

King Girls Go Cold in Loss to Greens Farms King's girls basketball team never got warm from the floor during Monday's Fairchester Athletic Association game against Greens Farms Academy. The Vikings (3-3) went 8:08 without a basket, allowing the Dragons to force a 25-25 tie at the end of regulation. The Dragons trailed by as many as nine points in the second half. Alexa Sullivan added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Meighan Grady had 10 rebounds.
